All writing should be in Times New Roman, 12-point font, with 1-inch margins. Your memo should be as long as it needs to be. Longer answers are not necessarily better or more complete than shorter ones.
Grading Criteria: See “Rubric for Skywalker, Version 1” in the Skywalker Folder
You are a junior attorney in a big firm in the town of Harbor View, North Florida. Your boss, a woman who values time, accuracy, and completeness, asks you to write a memo analyzing whether your client, Luke Skywalker, can recover a valuable light saber from the estate of Darth Vader. Boss provides you with her secretary’s notes from the conversation between Skywalker and Boss. You then locate the only four cases that deal with contracts in your jurisdiction (Apparently, North Floridians are exceptionally good at drafting contracts and keeping promises).
Review the facts of Skywalker’s story and the caselaw. Then write a memo addressing Boss’s question. Your memo must include the following sections:
Question Presented (4 points)
Short Answer (4 points)
Statement of Facts (5 points)
Discussion (10 points)
Conclusion (2 points)
Your memo should state your conclusions briefly and clearly and then present the reasoning that supports them. It should present assumptions as assumptions and be free of typos, grammar, and spelling mistakes.
