  • Respond to each item. Each response should be concise and between 2–3 paragraphs in length.
  • Use MS Word to write your responses, and submit your answers to all three questions in one Word document.
  • Copy and paste each question within the document, so that your Instructor can see which question that you are responding to.
  1. Summarize the characteristics of quality poetry. Then, explain whether your attitude toward poetry has changed based on what you have learned in this course, and if so, in what ways. Or, share your thoughts with regard to the value of making poetry a part of children’s lives.

  2. Galda, Sipe, Liang, & Cullinan state, “Creating stories is an essential part of being human” (2014, p. 163). How does the genre of folklore, in particular, illustrate this statement? Use at least three types of folklore to substantiate your response.

  3. Explain how the genres of fantasy and science fiction are alike and how they are different. How would you compare each of these genres with folklore? How would you summarize the “power” of all three genres?
