The 2011 tornado that hit Tuscaloosa was devastating. 65 people lost their lives and more than 1,000 people were injured. Agencies from across the state were called in to assist with ensuring that shelters were managed. This was horrific for those who were victims of the storms and those who came to assistance them. There were people from all walks of life that entered those shelters needed a source of comfort. Ultimately the city of Tuscaloosa was able to rebuild a lot of structures that were lose during the time of the tornado.

The main purpose of creating a comprehensive crisis response plan is to assist an organization in effectively managing the effects of crisis and recovering from it, (Kouzes & Posner, 2012). When crisis occurs, it sometimes find people off guard. This affects their ability to respond effectively. In this event, if an organization does not have a comprehensive crisis response plan, all the issues concerning the crisis might not be put into perspective. This aspect in turn affects the convenience of handling the crisis. A comprehensive plan ensures that all issues are put into perspective, and that the crisis management process is efficient.
The main benefits of having a comprehensive crisis management plan is minimizing losses and negative image of the organization that a crisis might lead to. A management plan ensures that the crisis is handled fast, and efficiently, before it escalates causing more losses. Additionally, the reputation of the organization is saved from adverse effects, as the plan addresses all the issues that could directly affect the image of the organization. The main benefit of this management plan is to ensure that the organization does not suffer maximum losses as a result of the crisis.
